Extinction Animals in South America

1. American cheetah (Miracinonyx)
Extinction Date : 11000B.C
Range : Northern North America
An American cheetah's appearance and body type bring up the image of an African cheetah, but actually it is more related with a puma. This cheetah has a slim and long body type which means his body is appropriate for running. He can run 100km/h like modern cheetah. Although he can hunt easily, he runs with his whole body only for a short distance.

2. Dire wolf (canis dirus)
Extinction Date : 8000B.C
Range : North America
Dire wolf is much more bigger than the Gray wolf, which is the biggest existing wolf. Dire wolves are almost 2 meters long, and weight is about 100kg. The teeth are thick and the muzzle is wide, so it can chew and eat bones as today's hyena. However, the brain is ironically smaller than the head. So this wolf has low intelligence.
